Whether it’s your period, just-in-case protection for irregular cycles, or light bladder leakage postpartum - these are the underwear you’ll keep reaching for.
Soft, comfortable, and seriously reliable, Brolly Women’s Light Absorbent Underwear look and feel like your everyday undies, with a discreet built-in absorbent layer that holds up to 100ml - roughly the equivalent of 8 super tampons.
Designed to replace bulky pads and reduce the need for constantly changing tampons or liners, they offer reliable protection without compromising on comfort. Unlike some absorbent underwear that can feel thick, stiff, or plasticky, these are made to feel smooth, discreet, and genuinely wearable - comfortable enough for all-day or overnight wear.
Available in two styles depending on your preference - a midi brief that sits just above the hips for everyday coverage, or a high waist for extra support. Choose from beige or black, in sizes Small through to 3XL.

Designed for women who experience any of the following:
• Periods - protection from light through to heavy (very heavy periods average 80ml over the entire period)
• Postpartum recovery - comfortable protection in the weeks after birth
• Light bladder leaks from sneezing, coughing, laughing, or exercise
• Perimenopause and menopause - when cycles or bladder control becomes unpredictable
• Everyday peace of mind
These period undies work for a wider range of needs than the name suggests. Whether it's periods, postpartum recovery, light bladder leakage, perimenopause, or just wanting a reliable backup on unpredictable days — the same four-layer absorbent system handles it. Up to 100ml capacity, built into the gusset so there's nothing to shift, bunch, or replace throughout the day.
The cotton outer (95% cotton, 5% elastane) is soft and breathable — important for anyone wearing absorbent underwear for extended periods. There's no plastic backing against the skin, no padding that adds bulk, and no crinkle when you move. They look and feel like regular underwear, which matters for dignity and everyday wearability.
The Full Brief style is particularly well suited to post-surgical recovery, postpartum wear, or anyone who benefits from a higher rise and more abdominal coverage. The Midi Brief suits everyday use with a classic hip-height cut. Both available in Black and Beige, sizes Small to 3XL.
For NDIS participants, absorbent underwear for continence management may be claimable under Core Supports — Daily Activities (Consumables). Check with your plan manager or support coordinator for eligibility. Rinse in cold water after wear, cold or warm machine wash, line dry — no fabric softener.
Layer Composition Purpose
Our absorbent underwear is covered by a 6-month guarantee from the date of purchase. To keep them performing at their best, rinse after use, cold machine wash, and line dry in the shade. Do not tumble dry, as heat can damage the absorbent layers and reduce their effectiveness over time.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our products, but we manufacture (and deliver) by humans, not robots so very occasionally a product may develop a manufacturers fault or arrive damaged. We will do everything we can to resolve this situation to your satisfaction. To organise a return please email info@brollysheets.com with a photo and details of the issue.
If you’ve ordered the wrong size or colour, you can return or exchange within 90 days. Change-of-mind returns are issued as a gift card (valid for 3 years). For hygiene reasons, underwear can only be returned if unused, with swing tags attached, and in original packaging. Shipping costs for exchanges are the responsibility of the customer.
Washing after your period
Simple to care for — just a couple of steps will keep them performing well for years.
1. Rinse in cold water first. Cold water lifts blood before it sets. Hot water does the opposite and locks stains in. A quick 30-second cold rinse in the sink or shower before the wash is all it takes.
2. Machine wash on a cold or warm cycle with your regular detergent. Wash with like colours.
3. Do not use fabric softener. Softener coats the fibres and reduces absorbency over time. Skip it entirely.
4. Line dry or tumble on low heat. High heat can damage the waterproof and absorbent layers. Line drying is best and extends the life of the product.
One pair easily handles a full day's wear on a light-to-moderate period day. Most women keep 3–5 pairs in rotation so there's always a clean pair ready.
Washing for bladder leaks
Same process — rinse in cold water after wear, machine wash cold or warm, skip the fabric softener, and line dry. The absorbent layer stays effective wash after wash when cared for properly.
Care label summary

Can I use these as my only period protection?
On light-to-moderate days, yes — many women do. They hold up to 100ml, which covers the average heavy period day (around 40ml) with room to spare. On very heavy days, they work well as backup to a cup or tampon. Most women are surprised by how little they actually bleed — 100ml is genuinely enough.
What's the difference between the Midi Brief and the Full Brief?
The Midi Brief sits at hip height — it's the classic everyday cut, smooth and comfortable under clothing. The Full Brief has a higher rise for more coverage and a smoothing fit around the tummy. Both have the same absorbency (up to 100ml). It's purely about fit preference. The Full Brief suits post-partum recovery, post-surgery, or anyone who prefers more coverage.
Can I wear these for light bladder leaks?
Yes — the absorbent layer handles bladder leaks just as well as period flow. Whether it's from sneezing, coughing, laughing, or exercise, the same four-layer system manages it. Many women keep a pair specifically for gym days or long walks.
How many pairs do I need?
For period use, 3–5 pairs gets most women through a cycle comfortably — one on, one drying, a couple clean and ready. For everyday bladder leak protection, 2–3 pairs in rotation is usually enough.
How do I wash my period underwear?
Rinse in cold water first — cold lifts blood before it sets, hot locks stains in. Then cold or warm machine wash inside out with your regular detergent. No fabric softener (it coats the fibres and reduces absorbency over time). Line dry or tumble dry on low heat — high heat damages the waterproof and absorbent layers. That's it.
Do they smell?
No. The absorbent layer manages odour as well as moisture. A cold rinse after wear keeps everything fresh until wash day. With proper care they stay odour-free wash after wash.
How long do they last?
With proper care — cold rinse, no fabric softener, line dry — they're built to last for years. We back them with a 6-month warranty from date of purchase. The biggest thing that shortens their life is heat, so skip the hot wash and the dryer.
Will they show under clothing?
No. There's no bulk or padding that adds volume under clothing. The absorbent layer is built into the gusset, not a thick insert. Beige works under light colours; black under dark colours or on its own.
Are these good for post-partum recovery?
Yes — the Full Brief style works particularly well post-partum. Higher rise, gentle on a healing tummy, supportive around the belly. Handles post-partum discharge comfortably on lighter recovery days. Worth having 2–3 pairs in the hospital bag.
What's the difference between these and disposable pads?
No plastic backing, no rustling, no wings to fiddle with, no waste. These move with your body and stay in place. Reusable, washable, and comfortable enough that most women don't go back to disposables once they've tried them.
